MEGAsync is a simple and easy to use application that enables you to upload, download, or perform file synchronization.

Release Details

• You have to create a free account (50GB free cloud storage) to use this app.
• If you don't want to register, you can install MEGA's Chrome or Firefox extension—to reduce loading times, improve download performance and strengthen security.

DIY/Do It Yourself: Upgrade to the Latest Release

Requirements7-Zip, NPP/Notepad++ or other text editor, PortableApps.com Launcher Generator/PAL, PortableApps.com Installer/PAI.

1. Get the latest portable app. template, and extract the content with 7-Zip.
2. Get the latest MEGA Sync client release.
3. Put it in the same folder as the extracted template, in our example C:\0TEST.
4. Extract the installer MEGAsyncSetup.exe with 7-Zip to MEGAsyncPortable\App\MEGAsync folder,
   
   click Auto Rename when asked,
   
5. Browse to MEGAsyncPortable\App\MEGAsync folder, delete:
   1. folder: $PLUGINSDIR,
   2. files: $R0, $R0_1, uninst.exe.
6. Look up version from MEGAsync.exe's Properties,
   or you can get complete version from MEGAsync's About box or from Softpedia,
   
7. Browse to MEGAsyncPortable\App\AppInfo and open appinfo.ini file with NPP. Replace the [Version] section with the latest version number. Make sure the PackageVersion entry is in 4 place digit, eg. 3.5.8.0 not just 3.5.8,

8. Run PAL, paste the template folder address C:\0TEST\MEGAsyncPortable, and click Go—a new launcher will be created,
   
9. Test the new launchers by following this guide.
10. When all is OK, then delete the MEGAsyncPortable\Data folder and run PAI, paste the package folder address C:\0TEST\MEGAsyncPortable, and click Go—to create the installer package.
    
11. Use the installer package to upgrade your portable application. Don't forget to at least backup your Data folder before any upgrade :)
12. If you find any changes that's not handled by the launcher, consult the PAL help file to modify the launcher yourself or ask for our paid upgrade support.

Portability Notes

• MEGA Sync do not have portable mode. It writes non essential data to Windows registry and stores its settings in Windows data folder while running.
• The configuration file is encrypted, so you must manually set it up to sync to Data\MegaSync Downloads folder at first run setup.
• We decide not to grant the portable launcher administrator privilege, so some leftovers are expected. MEGA Sync creates schedule tasks in %WINDIR%\System32\Tasks\MEGA and %WINDIR%\SysWOW64\Tasks\MEGA—although not runnable, and you can remove it by disabling auto update manually from the settings. It will also leave non-removable empty folder in %PUBLIC%\Public Account Pictures.
• Make sure it exits cleanly before plugging out your thumbdrive.
• You can help by sending request to the official developer to add "portable mode" to their future release.
