1. We'll use the 32/64 bit edition as example, you can infer from this example to upgrade the 32 bit only edition.
2. Get the latest portable app. template, and extract the content with 7-Zip.
3. Get the latest MediBang Paint Pro for Desktop release.
4. Put it in the same folder as the extracted template, in our example C:\0TEST, then extract the installers by following this guide.
5. Open BRU/Bulk Rename Utility and browse to the 32 bit extracted folder C:\0TEST\MediBangPaintProSetup-14.0-32bit\{app}→ type "*,1.*" in the Filters (12) box → check the "Subfolders" option → click the refresh button next to it,
   type ",2" in the Chars field of Remove (5) box → then select all (Ctrl+A) all matching files in the result preview box,
   click the Rename button to rename all files,
   
6. Next we'll remove the "*,1.*" files in File Explorer. Open C:\0TEST\MediBangPaintProSetup-14.0-32bit\{app} folder in File Explorer → type "*,1.*" in the search box → select all (Ctrl+A) results and delete them,
   
7. Repeat step 5 and 6 for the extracted 64 bit installer in C:\0TEST\MediBangPaintProSetup-14.0-64bit\{app} folder.
8. Move MediBangPaintProSetup-14.0-32bit\{sys} folder contents to its {app} folder. So with the 64 bit ones.
9. Delete vcredist_x86.exe and vcredist_x64.exe from {app} folders.
10. Move the {app} folder to C:\0TEST\MediBangPaintProPortable _3264\App and rename it to MediBangPaintPro32. The same with the 64 bit {app} folder and rename it to MediBangPaintPro64
    
11. Look up the complete version number from MediBang Paint Pro's Softpedia page, eg. 14.0 ver. 2.0.1.
12. Browse to MediBangPaintProPortable _3264\App\AppInfo and open appinfo.ini file with NPP. Replace the [Version] section with the latest version number. Make sure the PackageVersion entry is in 4 place digit, eg. 14.0.0.0 not just 14.0.0 nor 14.0,

DIY/Do It Yourself: Upgrade to the Latest Release

1. Get the latest portable app. template, and extract the content with 7-Zip.
2. Get the latest XYplorerFree release—the Alternative Packages (ZIP and RAR).
3. Put it in the same folder as the extracted template, in our example C:\0TEST, then extract the package with 7-Zip to XYplorerPortable\App\XYplorer folder,
   
   
4. Look up version from XYplorerFree.exe"Properties" window,
   
5. Browse to XYplorerPortable\App\AppInfo and open appinfo.ini file with NPP. Replace the [Version] section with the latest version number. Make sure the PackageVersion entry is in 4 place digit, eg. 17.40.0100.0 not just 17.40.0100,

   [Version]
   PackageVersion=17.40.0100.0
   DisplayVersion=17.40.0100 rev 2
   

6. Run PAL, paste the template folder address C:\0TEST\XYplorerPortable, and click Go—a new launcher will be created,
   
7. Test the new launchers by following this guide.
8. When all is OK, then delete the XYplorerPortable\Data folder and run PAI, paste the package folder address C:\0TEST\XYplorerPortable, and click Go—to create the installer package.
   
9. Use the installer package to upgrade your portable application. Don't forget to at least backup your Data folder before any upgrade :)
10. If you find any changes that's not handled by the launcher, consult the PAL help file to modify the launcher yourself or ask for our paid upgrade support.

Portability Notes

• XYplorer writes non essential data to Windows registry and data folder while running.
• Make sure it exits cleanly before plugging out your thumbdrive.
